Making an emergency call

Each country has its own emergency number (typically 9-1-1 or 1-1-2). Before your trip, confirm the emergency number for the country you'll be visiting. In most cases, you won't need to dial a special area code before the emergency number.

Help! I can't use my phone while roaming!

If you’re having trouble using your device while abroad, note the following:

  • You may be in an area that’s not serviced by any local carriers (e.g. rural area).
  • In order to use data while abroad, data roaming must be turned on. You can find how to turn data roaming on/off on your device in our device tutorials.
  • Ensure that your phone isn’t in airplane mode, which will prevent your device from receiving any calls, texts or using any data.
  • Your device should automatically connect to a carrier when roaming. But if you’re having trouble connecting to a network, you may have to do it manually.
